I took this picture in 2004, aboard a trimaran sailing along the northwest coast of Kauai. These cliffs were created by volcanos, wind and water, they are up about 4,000 feet, and they hold a 22 mile trail that skirts the coastline running north to west.
If you’re driving on the island, the road ends here, and you can walk it, or fly over it, or drift along the coast in a boat.
We saw whales, and dolphins and an unending array of exotic birds. This is my vote for the most beautiful place in the world . . . so far.
