Jay Cutler: was he really hurt?

I’ve been listening to reports of tweets during yesterday’s Chicago v. Green Bay playoff game, tweets from NFL players questioning Cutler’s injury. Today the Bears are saying that Cutler suffered from a MCL injury:  “Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler suffered a torn medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his left knee during the Bears’ 21-14 loss to the Packers in the NFC … .”

Now, the Sportscenter guys are criticizing the NFL Tweeters, saying they’ve probably never even been to a playoff game. Well I’m no NFL guy, but I thought Cutler’s injury seemed to have happened out of nowhere. There was no evidence of injury other than a blood stained jersey at Cutler’s elbow. It seemed weird to me too. It’s the playoffs. These guys have worked all season to be in that game.

I think that we all sensed an underlying questioning of Cutler’s injury coming from the broadcasters themselves. That’s what we were shown, that Cutler didn’t seem injured at all. He was standing on the sidelines watching the game. He wasn’t hobbling around. AND Chicago’s coaching staff said nothing about the injury, or that Collins was coming in. The broadcaster’s saw that Todd Collins was warming up along the sidelines & that Cutler had his coat on. Did you see the game? comments?
